III. Literature as a Platform in Education for Sustainable Development

Sustainable development addresses stewardship issues, while also providing  opportunities for social and environmental responsibility. It will help the student by giving them an idea and a chance to use and explore to the new technologies. It is a good alternative, than to use paper for their projects they could use computers. Same through with the teachers, it will help them to lessen their time in checking the requirements of their students.

It will benefits us all, sustainable development will help us to have a healthy community by creating a cleaner environment, by using environmentally-friendly materials. It is one of the best way to make our environment clean and green and definitely it would help to prevent global warming. Aside from that, we could minimize our waste and at the same time improves air and water quality.

Human beings are the center concern of sustainable development. We are entitled to a healthy and productive life in harmony of nature. As the goal of sustainable development is to improve the the living conditions of human beings and ensuring the continual rejuvenation and  availability of natural resources for future generations.

IV. Reflection in Literature

In our first meeting, we already started our first lesson. Our topic was all about legend. I was not that ready and prepared for our discussion. Our first meeting was no that lively, that a normal class should be. All  I want to do back then, was to go home and have some rest.

Our next topic was all about riddles. Here we go again..., meeting our teacher in literature, for me was not that exciting. But not like our previous discussion, this time, I found my self raising a hand to guess the answer of the riddles. It was a lively discussion. All of us are participating and giving our best try to answer.

This day our topic was about proverbs. At first I was excited and at the time I was nervous. Nervous because we have to stand up and give an example of proverbs and after that explain it. For me it was an interesting topic because I have learned some proverbs which I can apply in my life. But in the middle of the class I feel bored and drowsy.<i want to sleep..>

I was too early that day, Because i was not yet finish to do my assignment about ballad songs and how we relate the song in our own life experiences. During our class, I was excited to share my life experiences especially about my love life. :) I feel a little bit nervous and shy to speak in front of them. But I done it very well.

V. Integration of Education for Sustainable Development to Literature

Sustainable development has one main objective, which is to create a delicate balance between the human need to improve lifestyle and feeling of well-being on one hand, and preserving natural resources and ecosystem, on which we and future generations defend. The way we have chosen to live our lives, in the recent past, has been responsible for the damage that has been caused to the environment. We are polluting the Earth and are therefore damaging the development of future generations.

We are all part of the environmental problems we have created. Our consumption generates pollution, which then leads to poor air quality and acid rain, which in turn encourages ozone depletion. Although we have unknowingly caused all that damages, sustainable development enables us to empower communities to work towards creating a cleaner future. By acquiring a better understanding of our world, through a global ethic, we enable ourselves to take responsible environmental actions.

Sustainable development places just as much importance on the protection of the earth and earth's resources. Active participation in sustainable development ensures that those who are affected by the changes are the ones determining the changes. The result is the enjoyment and sharing of the benefits and products generated by the change. Participation is not exclusive, ensuring equitable input, self-determination and empowerment of both genders and all races and cultural groups. Sustainable development also promotes collaboration and empowerment. By maintaining all of our resources and protecting nature, so that future generations can also benefit, we encourage a sustainable society and environment to grow.
